“Pat!” diye bir son. Ne düşünecek, ne de kaçıp saklanacak zaman var. O son mesajı bile gönderecek zaman yok. Yerden yavaşça kalkarken gözlerinizi bu yeni aleme alıştırmaya çalışıyorsunuz. Etrafınızda dev ve solgun bir fon dönüp dururken, aynı zamanda renkler ve imgeler gözlerinizin önünde birbirleriyle çarpışıyorlar. Bazen tozlu, bazen de güneş tutulması olmuş da atmosferi tüm artıklardan temizlemiş gibi berrak, zıtlıklar bir hareketlilik dünyası yaratmak için birbirleri ile yarışıyorlar. Birdenbire, sanki yokluktan var olmuş gibi döngü hızlanıyor ve bir biçim kazanıyor. Şurada bir kıvrım. Orada bir çizgi. Bir yüz. Renk. Bir olgunun orta yerinde bir beden. Bir uzun tasavvura dönüşen beş yaratı. Bir imge.

Meagan Cignoli’nin fotoğrafçılığı da böyle. Cignoli’nin neredeyse saplantılı denebilecek çalışmaları moda, betimlemeler ve seyahat belgelerinden oluşuyor. Cignoli sürekli ayrıntıların peşinde. Sözler apaçık ortada. Bu dünya çokluk ve farklılıktan ibaret bir Deleuze dünyası. Cignoli’nin dile gelmiş kareleri, bakanı o kareden oyuncu, büyüleyici, şaşırtıcı ve her daim davetkar bir aleme çekiyor. Çalışmalarında hem Tanrı hem Şeytan’ı buluyor, ikisine birden ellerimizi uzatıyor ve anlıyoruz ki ancak ikisine de tutunarak birlikteliğin kusursuz dengesini bulabiliriz. Çekici bir ortak yaşamın. Can I Seduce You? The Photography of Meagan Cignoli

Boom! It’s over. Just like that. No time to think. No time to run and duck. No time to send that last text message. Slowly rising from the ground, you try and adjust your eyes to this new world. Large expanse of pale backgrounds swirl around you, while at the same time, colors and images seem to clash right in front of your eyes. At times dusty, at times so clear you would think that a solar eclipse had just happened and had wiped the atmosphere clean of residue, opposites compete to create a world of movement and gesture. Suddenly, as if out of nowhere, the swirling increases, and form is created. A ruffle here. A line there. A face. Color. A body in the midst of an event. Five creations moving into one long contemplation. One image.

Such is the photography of Meagan Cignoli. Almost obsessive in her work, Cignoli’s work covers fashion, portraiture and travel documentary. Cignoli is constantly searching for the detail. The words made manifest. It is a Deleuzian world of multiplicity and difference. Cignoli’s framing captures worlds extending back from the frame, pulling one into a world which is at times playful, captivating, perplexing and always inviting. The details become the object-subject and call upon our senses to participate. Finding both God and the Devil, we give each a hand as we step into her work, knowing that only by holding onto both can the perfect balance of co-existence be found. Mutual co-habitation that intrigues. Seduces. A demand by Cignoli to participate. Salvation is not possible. Nor is it desirable. But this is a conversation, and a conversion, that we want to join in. Become a participant of. This is where our salvation lies.
